By Rebelyn S. Beyong
Recognized for its contribution in producing quality, curriculum-aligned educational media, the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) has received three nominations in the inaugural Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Broadcast Arts Awards, highlighting its continued contribution to expand access to education through broadcast media for learners across the country.
KCFI secured nominations across three categories:
Kinder Yes! for Best Educational Show. Produced through a grant from the National Council for Children's Television (NCCT), this seven-part learning series uses original music, rhymes, and animation to build foundational concepts in literacy, numeracy, and environmental care while reinforcing positive Filipino values.
Kinder Yes! airs Monday to Sunday at 8:20 AM, with replays at 4:40 PM on DepEd TV powered by Knowledge Channel.
WOW Kidapawan for Best Documentary. KCFI’s flagship educational travel show explores the rich geography, history, and culture of various Philippine localities to help learners appreciate their heritage. Co-produced with First Gen-Energy Development Corporation (EDC), the WOW episode on Kidapawan focuses on the city’s local biodiversity, particularly the conservation of the Apo Myna, an endemic and threatened flagship species.
WOW airs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12:20 PM, with replays at 8:40 PM on DepEd TV powered by Knowledge Channel.
Edric Calma for Best Host for Entertainment. KCFI Vice President and WOW host Calma is recognized for his engaging onscreen presence for WOW, effectively guiding viewers through the country’s natural heritage and biodiversity.
KCFI attributes the success and reach of these shows to the support of its partners, particularly NCCT and First Gen-EDC, which share its vision of nurturing educated and environmentally conscious Filipino youth.
FAMAS exclusively recognized excellence in cinema among Filipino filmmakers, actors, and production houses for over seven decades. However, in response to the evolving media landscape, the institution expanded its scope in 2026 to honor outstanding achievements in television and digital broadcasting.
By introducing these new categories, FAMAS formally acknowledges the growing influence of broadcast media in shaping public discourse, culture, and education. KCFI’s inclusion among the first batch of nominees highlights its mission to produce meaningful, curriculum-aligned content that informs, inspires, and empowers Filipino learners.
The broadcast industry will gather to celebrate these achievements at the inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards Night on July 20, 2026, at The Manila Hotel.
