KCFI and BPI Foundation Turn Over Knowledge Channel TV Packages in Isabela and Zamboanga City, Launching New Episodes of Estudyantipid

ISABELA CITY & ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) and BPI Foundation (BPIF) merged financial intellect and multimedia learning resources closer to Filipino learners through the turnover of five (5) Knowledge Channel TV (KCTV) packages to schools in Isabela City and Zamboanga City as part of BPIF’s FinEd Unboxed School Caravan.

The two-part school caravan began with a turnover at Isabela City, Basilan, bringing together teachers and representatives from the Isabela City Schools Division Office. It was followed by an afternoon ceremony at the Zamboanga City Colliseum, attended by teachers, student recipients, school heads, and representatives from the Department of Education, local government, BPIF, and KCFI, along with representatives from Zamboanga City National High School – Main, Ayala National High School, and Talon-Talon National High School.

Marking the turnover: new episodes of Estudyantipid, a financial literacy educational series created to assist young learners in developing practical money management skills and making informed decisions that will help in their everyday lives.

The five (5) KCTV packages were turned over during the Isabela City and Zamboanga City activities, which form part of a larger nationwide distribution under the initiative of both foundations. A total of twenty (20) KCTV packages will be distributed throughout the FinEd Unboxed School caravan, with upcoming turnovers scheduled in Iloilo, Guimaras, Cagayan De Oro, and Rizal.

What is a Knowledge Channel TV?

A KCTV is an offline multimedia learning package that brings educational video content directly to selected educational institutions. It is designed to help expand teachers' learning materials and assist students in understanding the lessons, particularly in communities where connectivity may be limited. The packages include a 55-inch Smart TV with a Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library (KCPML), an external hard drive loaded with more than 1,500 curriculum-based educational videos and other learning resources. Designed to support classroom instruction, the package allows teachers to integrate multimedia learning materials into their lessons while also giving students greater access to curriculum-aligned educational content.

The schools will also receive technical training on the proper use of the KCTV packages. This equips school representatives and educators with the basic familiarity needed to maximize the resources for teaching and learning.

By providing schools with ready-to-use materials, KCFI and BPIF seek to extend learning opportunities beyond the classroom and help teachers integrate relevant multimedia resources into their lesson plans.

“The turnover of the Knowledge Channel TV does not merely, provide access to our curriculum-based video lessons, but in fact it is an investment in the future, for every learner who will benefit from curriculum-aligned video lessons, all developed to make learning more engaging and fun, more interactive and constructive, and more effective and relevant“ said KCFI Vice President Edric Calma.

Making Financial Literacy Relatable

The school caravan also officially launched new episodes of Estudyantipid, bringing financial education lessons closer to students through relatable stories and situations.

“At BPI, we believe that financial education is a powerful tool for empowerment. By helping young Filipinos develop practical money skills early, we can help build a generation that is more responsible, resilient, and prepared for the future,“ said BPIF Director and Trustee Mary Catherine Elizabeth Santamaria.

Headlining the new episodes, Jana Agoncillo takes on the role to star as the new face of Estudyantipid, helping bring important financial concepts to life in a way that is engaging and accessible to young Filipino audiences. It covers topics such as saving, budgeting, responsible spending, understanding profit, and recognizing scams and fraud in simple lessons that students can relate to and apply in their daily lives.

The series emphasizes that financial literacy is not only about understanding spending and saving as standalone concepts but also about developing practical habits and making responsible decisions, from distinguishing between needs and wants to learning how to be more careful when dealing with money online, including how gross and net profit work. Through the initiative, KCFI and BPIF aim to reach approximately 6 million viewers across Knowledge Channel platforms by the end of 2026, based on historical reach data.

Bringing Financial Education to More Schools

The turnover in Isabela City and Zamboanga City marks the beginning of the project’s continued rollout across other areas. While there were only five (5) KCTV packages distributed during the activities, the project aims to distribute twenty (20) in total throughout the FinEd Unboxed School Caravan. The next turnovers will take place in Iloilo, Guimaras, Cagayan De Oro, and Rizal, allowing more schools and students to benefit from the multimedia learning resources and financial literacy content.

Through KCFI and BPIF partnerships, it gives students opportunities to learn practical financial skills through content that is accessible, engaging, and relevant to their everyday lives. As BPIF’s FinEd Unboxed School Caravan reaches more communities, the distribution of KCTV packages and the launch of Estudyantipid episodes aim to equip more Filipino learners with both the knowledge and resources they need to become responsible and informed decision-makers.

The new episodes of Estudyantipid airs every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 3:20 PM, with replays at 10:20 PM, on DepEd TV powered by Knowledge Channel.
