TAYTAY, RIZAL — The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI), Schneider Electric Philippines, Schneider Electric Foundation, Makesense Inc., and the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Rizal have launched Project Shaping Energy, a multi-sector initiative to integrate energy literacy and climate education into public high schools. Formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on May 28, 2026, at the Monaco Hotel, the program will benefit approximately 99,000 students and 135 teachers across Rizal.
This initiative, under the Youth Education & Entrepreneurship (YEE) program of Schneider Electric, will integrate energy literacy and sustainability education into the basic education system, specifically targeting high school learners. The program empowers young people with the skills and knowledge to actively participate in the just energy transition.
“KCFI will be producing ‘Enna You Know’, a curriculum-aligned, age-appropriate, and engaging video lesson on energy conservation and environmental protection for Grades 9 to 12 learners,” said KCFI Vice President Edric Calma. “We want students to understand sustainability, energy conservation, and climate responsibility in ways that are engaging, practical, and relevant to their everyday lives.”
“We at Schneider Electric believe that education is one of the most powerful ways to drive long-term, sustainable change,” said Atty. Norman Ocana III, Schneider Electric Philippines Head of Government Affairs and Schneider Electric Foundation Delegate to the Philippines.
“With the help of our partners, we are addressing the global skills gap in energy management, automation, and sustainability–one school at a time, one teacher at a time, and one student at a time.”
"Makesense Asia believes that if we intentionally enable and equip individuals, entrepreneurs, educators, institutions, communities, and more importantly our youth, we can collectively shape new norms where economic and social systems place both people and planet at the center." shared Hyrah Jeachelle Santos, Department Head for Workforce Development at Makesense Asia. “And that vision is exactly what Project Shaping Energy represents. It’s a collective promise that together, we will continue creating opportunities for young people to imagine, participate in, and lead transition toward a more sustainable & regenerative future.”
The ceremonial signing officially solidifies the collaborative framework of “Project Shaping Energy”. Key representatives present in the event include Dr. Doris Estalilla of DepEd SDO Rizal, Atty. Ocana III from Schneider Electric Philippines, Edric Calma of KCFI, and Santos from Makesense Asia, alongside DepEd Assistant Secretary Cilette Liboro Co.
“Renewable energy education is close to my heart. Through ‘Enna You Know,’ our partnership with Schneider Electric Philippines, we hope to inspire young Filipinos to understand energy, embrace sustainability, and take regenerative action for the future,” said KCFI President and Co-Founder Rina Lopez.
Empowering high school learners in Rizal
The initiative focuses exclusively on the critical junior and senior high school demographic. “Project Shaping Energy” is meticulously designed to provide curriculum-aligned educational materials covering essential modern topics such as renewable energy, energy conservation, environmental protection, and climate change mitigation.
By integrating these vital sustainability concepts into the daily learning experience, the partnership seeks to empower youth aged 15 to 18 to make informed, sustainable choices and become active contributors to a cleaner environment.
Introducing the Enna You Know series
A key highlight of the initiative is Enna You Know, a new educational video series that follows a high school student navigating everyday environmental challenges.
The show asks a compelling question: How can an ordinary high school student make the environment better? It follows the journey of a curious teen named Enna who frequently encounters everyday environmental problems at home and in her local community. To solve these issues, she turns to her older brother Geo, a field-based environmental scientist. Through dynamic video calls and a detailed evidence board, Geo breaks down the practical science behind Enna's experiences and provides straightforward, actionable steps she can apply right away.
The series aims to build environmental awareness and encourage eco-friendly habits through engaging, real-life scenarios. During the event, KCFI gave an exclusive sneak peek of the show.
Equipping educators through grassroots training
Beyond the production of multimedia content, the program places a heavy emphasis on robust human capital development through comprehensive teacher capacity-building. Makesense Inc. will lead the grassroots training program, equipping high school educators with specialized teacher's guides, training manuals, and supplementary learning materials.
To further promote student engagement and applied learning, Makesense will organize a province-wide culminating school competition. This competition will provide a platform for students to demonstrate real-world learning outcomes and showcase their own climate action initiatives.
Corporate expertise for a greener tomorrow
The private sector’s role remains critical in driving this educational transformation. Schneider Electric Philippines will provide essential subject matter expertise on energy efficiency, environmental conservation, and the energy transition to ensure the curriculum enhancement is highly accurate and relevant.
Additionally, the company will actively mobilize its employee volunteers to support the teacher training sessions, student engagements, and various school events. This volunteer engagement guarantees that industry professionals can directly impart their technical knowledge and real-world experience to the next generation of leaders.
The spark of change begins in the classroom, but its light is destined to reach far beyond the four walls of a school. As “Project Shaping Energy” prepares to power up in the heart of Rizal, it does more than just teach high school students how to conserve electricity—it switches on a profound, lifelong sense of responsibility for the Earth. KCFI and its dedicated partners are not merely shaping energy; they are shaping a brighter, more sustainable, and more enlightened tomorrow for the Philippines.
