For the first time, Child Development Workers and Teachers (CDW/Ts) are in the spotlight for this year’s National Teachers’ Month (NTM) celebration.

As a proud member of the National Teachers’ Month (NTM) Coordinating Council, the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) is honored to empower Child Development Workers and Teachers (CDW/Ts), along with basic education teachers, through new opportunities that build their skills and broaden their impact in early childhood care and education.

For basic education teachers and parents, KCFI will hold its Knowledge Matters online conference on September 27 and October 4. Both sessions are also free and will grant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to K–12 teachers who register and participate. The first session will focus on strengthening reading comprehension through Knowledge Channel video lessons such as Wikaharian and Ready, Set, Read!, along with activities and strategies that parents and CDW/Ts can use to support diverse learners at home and in the classroom. The second session will highlight Mathematics, enhancing problem-solving skills through Knowledge Channel’s MathDali videos and demonstrating how these can be applied in real-life situations at home and in the community.

Throughout National Teachers’ Month, KCFI continues the implementation of Kayang-Kaya Para Sa Bata, a certificate program for the upskilling of 49 CDWs in Baras, Rizal, launched last July. Guided by the Early Childhood Care and Development System Act of 2025, the first-of-its-kind six-month upskilling program equips CDWs with the resources, expertise, and certification they need to provide young children with holistic and well-rounded learning experiences.

Kayang-Kaya Para Sa Bata is made possible by the Rotary Global Grant #2457741 through the Rotary Club of Makati Premier District (RCMPD), Rotary District 3830, Rotary Club of Cheonan Dongho (RCCD), and Rotary District 3620, in partnership with KCFI, the UP Department of Family Life and Child Development, the Early Childhood Care and Development Council, and the Municipality of Baras.

Aside from the free online conferences and teacher training programs, KCFI continues its search for the Gurong May K: Best Teacher of Knowledge Channel Awards, which recognizes outstanding K–12 teachers and CDW/Ts who effectively use Knowledge Channel videos in their instruction. KCFI will also spotlight the stories of CDWs through a short-form feature, where selected CDWs will share their experiences, challenges, and the joy they find in teaching young children.
