The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) closes the year on a high note, celebrating a remarkable run of achievements that highlight its commitment to enriching education and learning for the Filipino children. From award-winning shows to meaningful on-ground initiatives and strengthened partnerships, KCFI underscores its enduring role as a leader in educational media for children across the country.

Seven of KCFI’s curriculum-aligned shows received Anak TV Seals at the Anak TV Seal Awards 2025 on December 2. These are awarded to shows deemed by parents and experts to be values-oriented, age-appropriate, and nurturing for Filipino children. Among this year’s seal awardees are AgriKids (produced with the Agricultural Training Institute), EcoPlay (developed with Unilever-Breeze), Estudyantipid (created with BPI Foundation), Kasaysayan TV (done with the Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma Foundation), Payong K-Lusugan (a collaboration with Unilever-Domex), Siklo ng Enerhiya (a project with the Department of Energy), and Wikaharian (produced with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts or NCCA).

KCFI’s Ready, Set, Read! was also named as the Philippines’ National Winner for the Best Children’s Program category of the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA), a prestigious program that recognizes excellence in film, television, and digital media across the Asia-Pacific region. Ready, Set, Read! was honored at the AACA Grand Awards Gala in Singapore on December 4, alongside other National Winners from China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.

These milestones reflect KCFI’s unwavering commitment to quality curriculum-based content accessible, and transformative learning experiences for Filipino children, a mission championed by KCFI in the past 26 years.

KCFI President and Executive Director Rina Lopez was recently recognized and elevated to the Circle of Excellence for Woman Leaders at the 16th Asia CEO Awards. Lopez was awarded alongside a group of exceptional women leading change, strengthening communities, and pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved in business and society. Under her leadership, KCFI continues to thrive not only as a sought-after intervention in teaching and learning but in policy innovations as well.

Celebrating Knowledge, Inspiration, and Hope

KCFI kick-started its series of celebrations for its 25th anniversary on November 27 with a luncheon, recognizing 62 corporate and corporate social responsibility donors from the Lopez Group and other companies, as well as past and present members of its Board of Trustees and individual partners.

KCFI awarded the winners of the first KCFI Gurong May K: Best Teachers of Knowledge Channel, with Mr. Jonathan Mayo of the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Batangas (under the Basic Education category) and National Early Child Development Center Mrs. Zarlina Bacadon of Naawan, Misamis Oriental (under the Early Childhood Development category) winning their respective categories and receiving a trophy, certificate, ₱50,000 in cash and a Knowledge Channel TV (KCTV) package. The search for Kabataang May K meanwhile recognized learners from across the country for their compelling photo essays that showcased how Knowledge Channel has inspired and positively impacted their learning.

Partnerships for Values

In celebration of Filipino Values Month in November, KCFI and NCCA brought the Bálay Pinoy School Caravan to two public schools in the Schools Division Office of Manila on November 20 and 25. The caravan introduced high school and elementary learners to 20 core Filipino values through engaging activities, including an audio-visual storytelling workshop and values-oriented entertainment featuring an appearance by a mascot, Heneral Tuna, the star of the NCCA’s animated values series of the same name, which debuted on Knowledge Channel in 2023.

Celebrating National Children's Month in November, KCFI partnered with the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) for the "Connected with Care: Guiding Young Children in Safe and Developmentally Appropriate Media Use" online conference on November 22. The session highlighted for parents and Child Development Workers (CDWs) tools to protect children from Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) while maximizing the benefits of educational television not only for early learning, but also for enhancing parent-child communication, supporting children’s socio-emotional and cognitive development, and promoting safer digital engagement at home and in the community.
