KCFI and Teacher Education Council Explore Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Early Childhood Teacher Education in the Philippines
Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) recently met with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) to explore strategic partnerships in advancing quality early childhood education in the Philippines.
Representing KCFI were Co-Founder, President and Executive Director Rina Lopez and Vice President Edric Calma, who exchanged inputs on initiatives aimed at strengthening teacher capacity-building for foundational teaching and learning. While TEC is represented by Executive Director Dr. Jennie Jocson and Educational Specialist II Ms. Marie Kristel Corpin.
Among the areas explored were:
Advancing an experiential learning model that provides hands-on learning and practicum exposure for pre-service teachers.
Supporting Child Development Teachers (CDTs) and Child Development Workers (CDWs) within TEC’s ecosystem of alternative teacher development pathways.
Assisting Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in offering a Certificate in Literacy Education.
Enhancing the capacity of TEIs to effectively implement the reframed curriculum.
Previous early childhood development (ECD) initiatives of Knowledge Channel Foundation, implemented across partner schools and communities nationwide, demonstrate its sustained commitment to strengthening foundational learning. Through teacher capacity-building workshops, classroom integration of developmentally appropriate content, and active engagement with parents and local stakeholders, KCFI continues to help build stronger early learning ecosystems and better prepare educators to support children in their most formative years.
KCFI looks forward to working closely with the Teacher Education Council (TEC), the government body mandated to formulate policies, standards, and strategies to strengthen teacher education across the country, in building a more responsive, future-ready teacher education ecosystem that ensures every Filipino child is supported by a well-prepared and high-quality educator.
