MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Representatives from Anak TV, led by its President, Ms. Elvira Yap Go, paid a courtesy call on Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara on Tuesday, October 27, to finalize plans for an upcoming joint media summit designed to foster media literacy, digital safety, and youth empowerment across the country.
The collaborative initiative, centered on the theme "Hear My Voice: Are You Listening?", aims to create a dedicated platform for dialogue among parents, teachers, and students regarding child-sensitive, family-friendly media and online content. To ensure equitable access and regional participation, the media summit will roll out in a four-phase nationwide series spanning four key regions: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and National Capital Region (NCR).
Targeted for implementation from February to April 2027, the roadshow will feature plenary session with invited professionals as key speakers, and panel discussions among parents, teachers and students focused on navigating today's evolving digital landscape. During the meeting, Anak TV officials emphasized the critical need for collaborative media advocacy, highlighting how modern media consumption directly impacts values education and child development in the midst of growing concerns on bullying, depression, and shooting incidents in schools.
Secretary Angara expressed support for the initiative, noting that empowering students and educators with strong media literacy skills aligns with DepEd's broader vision for holistic student development and safe learning environments.
Further details regarding summit schedules, venue locations, and registration guidelines will be released jointly by DepEd and Anak TV in late 2026.
