Knowledge Channel Foundation Recognized at Inaugural NCCT Child-Friendly Content Awards

The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) received multiple honors at the inaugural Child-Friendly Content Awards (CFCA) of the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT), recognizing its continued commitment to creating educational, values-driven, and age-appropriate media that supports Filipino children’s learning and development.

Presented on October 27, 2026, during the Philippine Conference on Children and Media (PCCM) 2026, the awards celebrated excellence in child-friendly television content, advocacy, and broadcasting.

KCFI President and Co-Founder Rina Lopez was named an NCCT Pioneer of Philippine Children’s Television for her groundbreaking contributions to the sector. In her acceptance speech, Lopez reaffirmed the importance of making learning opportunities accessible to every child.

“Every Filipino child, wherever they live, in whatever their circumstances, deserves the chance to learn and reach their full potential. We believe then, as we do today, in the power of media to transform lives,” said Lopez. She dedicated the recognition to her family, the Knowledge Channel team, and the partners who share the Foundation’s mission.

As children increasingly engage with digital and mobile platforms, Lopez also underscored the responsibility of content creators to ensure that children feel represented, heard, and protected. “Technology will keep changing, but our purpose must remain the same,” she said.

Edric C. Calma also received the NCCT Child-Friendly Television Champion Award for his work in promoting media that informs, educates, and empowers Filipino children.

KCFI’s educational programs MathDali and Wikaharian were recognized as Child-Friendly Television Programs. Through its partnership with BEAM, Knowledge Channel Foundation also received the Gold Award under the Child-Friendly Broadcast Television Network (BTN) category for demonstrating EVA (Educational, Value-Laden, and Age-Appropriate) standards in children’s media.

KCFI’s commitment to meaningful children’s content is further reflected in WOW, one of four television programs funded under the National Endowment Fund for Children’s Television (NEFCTV). Anchored on the theme “Karakter, Karunungan, at Kasanayan sa Buhay,” the program promotes character formation, knowledge-building, and essential life skills among Filipino children.

These recognitions affirm KCFI’s continuing mission to make quality learning resources accessible through educational television and multimedia content, helping children build knowledge, develop essential skills, and discover the joy of learning.

The awards were presented during the Philippine Conference on Children and Media (PCCM) 2026 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City, bringing together government, media and creative industries, educators, and child advocates to advance a safe, dynamic, and child-friendly media environment.
