kaRUNungan Data Privacy Notice
Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc.
This notice explains how Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. ("KCFI," "we," "us") collects and uses personal data when you register for kaRUNungan: Virtual Run for Knowledge (the "Event"). It matches Section 8 of the Event waiver. We follow the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its rules.
Who is responsible
KCFI is the personal information controller. Race Roster North America Corporation ("Race Roster"), our online registration platform, processes registration and payment data on KCFI's behalf and under its own privacy terms. Race Roster is based outside the Philippines, so your data may be stored or processed abroad.
What we collect
- Name, email address and mobile number
- Birthdate and sex
- Address and shipping address
- Organization or affiliation (asked at registration)
- Registration category (5K, 10K or 21K), add-ons, shirt size, and pet names if you add a pet
- Proof-of-run information you submit: distances, dates, times, and any screenshots or tracker data
- Payment details, which Race Roster collects and holds, not KCFI
Why we collect it
- To process your registration and payment
- To verify your distance and issue results, e-certificates and kits
- To send Event updates, reminders and safety information
- To answer your questions and requests
- To prepare anonymized, aggregate statistics (such as total runners and distance breakdowns) for KCFI's partners, sponsors and reports
Minors
Anyone under 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Minors cannot register themselves. By registering a minor, the parent or guardian agrees to the Event waiver for the minor and consents to this notice, including the display of the minor's name, gender and results on the public leaderboard. We collect only the data needed to process the minor's entry.
What is public
- Leaderboard: Race Roster's public leaderboard shows each participant's name, gender and total time or distance. This includes registrants under 18. Race Roster does not appear to offer a setting to hide or shorten names.
- Screenshots: any screenshot you upload to record a run is public on Race Roster. Screenshots may show routes, locations, or health and fitness details. Crop or hide map views that show your home.
Content you post online
If you post content online (photos, videos, stories or proof-of-run content) that uses an official Event hashtag (such as #kaRUNungan) or tags KCFI or Knowledge Channel's official accounts, KCFI may share, repost and display it on KCFI's and Knowledge Channel's social media, websites and promotional materials for this and future kaRUNungan events, with credit to you where possible.
This is a term of the Event waiver (Section 9). KCFI does not photograph or record participants. You keep ownership of your content and may ask us to remove it from KCFI-controlled channels. To avoid reuse, do not post with the Event hashtags or tags. If a minor's post uses the hashtags or tags, the parent or guardian is responsible and the same terms apply.
Who we share data with
- Race Roster, to run registration, payments, results and the leaderboard
- Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. and ABS-CBN personnel who help run the Event
- Courier or fulfilment partners, only for the shipping details needed to deliver race items
We do not sell your personal data. We do not give sponsors your personal data. Sponsors only receive anonymized, aggregate numbers.
Transfers outside the Philippines
Race Roster and its service providers may process your data outside the Philippines. Participants outside the Philippines may also be covered by their own countries' data protection laws.
How long we keep it
We keep your data only as long as needed to run the Event, deliver results and kits, and meet reporting and audit needs, then delete or anonymize it. Registrant data is kept for 6 months after the Event.
How we protect it
KCFI limits access to your data to people who need it for the Event and relies on Race Roster's security measures for registration and payment data.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you may: be informed how your data is used; access your data; correct inaccurate data; ask us to delete or block your data (subject to legal and contractual limits); object to certain uses; and file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission if you believe your data was mishandled.
