As part of the 22nd Anniversary of Knowledge Channel, a virtual surprise event called “Gift of Knowledge AnniverSAYA: Surpresa para sa Acereda” was organized by the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) for Teacher Rhea Alo and Acereda Integrated School, last October 22, 2021. KCFI donated a Knowledge TV package to provide assistance in their community viewing stations in Bobon, Northern Samar.

Teacher Rhea was the first-ever featured story in the newest program of Knowledge Channel called Kuwentong School at Home (KSAH) that aired its pilot feature last September 13, 2021, in celebration of World Teachers Month.

During the virtual event, Teacher Rhea was feeling emotional because of the unexpected surprise from KCFI, which was made possible through the teamwork of her co-teachers, spearheaded by their school Principal, Dr. Analynne Balero. Tearfully, she expressed her gratitude to everyone in KCFI for the gift that her students need to continue their education during the pandemic.

AIS received a  Knowledge TV and an external hard drive loaded with more than 1,500 Deped aligned curriculum based educational videos, games and session guides. These video lessons serve as a supplement to the self-learning modules of students in distance learning.

Her story of hope, perseverance, and dedication as a teacher has inspired a lot of people, including Ms. Rina Lopez, President and Executive Director of Knowledge Channel who led the donation initiative for Acereda Integrated School.

Lopez, in her message during the virtual surprise, emphasized her admiration and acknowledgment on the efforts of Teacher Rhea and by making Knowledge Channel become part of her remarkable commitment to teaching. Lopez said.

Looking back at Teacher Rhea’s moving statements during her interview for Kwentong School at Home, she mentioned the insurmountable problem in her town, where students are struggling to keep up with online learning because of the lack of gadgets and poor internet connectivity. Because of this, they initiated the “community viewing stations” where they have to carry televisions across areas and barangays to conduct a lesson through the educational videos of Knowledge Channel.

Meanwhile, the virtual surprise was also attended by the employees of KCFI, along with their President and Mr. Edric Calma, the Director for Operations. Also present in this event is the Acereda Integrated School faculty who assisted in making the virtual surprise successful for Teacher Rhea.

Throughout the 22 years of Knowledge Channel’s vision of a transformative learning to Filipino children, it will continuously serve its commitment to help through its projects, together with the help of its various stakeholders in providing education and assistance to children, teachers, and communities across the country.
