Aligned with this November’s National Children’s Month (NCM) theme, “OSAEC‑CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) continues to champion children’s rights and access to quality education, a mission it has upheld for 26 years. Through partnerships, curriculum-based video lessons, teacher training, and Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiatives, KCFI empowers Filipino children to learn, grow, and thrive in safe and nurturing environments.
Furthering its commitment to accessible learning, KCFI signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Solar Pictures, Inc. on November 6 to provide an additional platform for the Knowledge Channel. Airing on cable, with slots on the Kapamilya Channel, satellite, free TV through A2Z Channel 11, and streaming online via iWant, the Knowledge Channel continues to expand its reach through this partnership and helps revitalize DepEd TV by airing KCFI’s curriculum-based video lessons on a dedicated digital channel provided by Solar Pictures. By combining the power of media and education, the partnership supports DepEd’s goal of integrating technology into learning and ensures that more Filipino learners can access quality lessons anytime, anywhere.
Among KCFI’s newest shows for children is Kinder Yes!, launched during the 28th Anniversary of the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) on October 24. Produced through an NCCT grant, the series teaches early childhood competencies such as the Filipino alphabet, shapes, and colors through songs, rhymes, and animations rooted in local culture, all aligned with the DepEd curriculum. NCCT also recognized KCFI with the Outstanding Commitment to Child-friendly Content Standards (CFCS) award, while flagship shows MathDali and Wikaharian earned honors for exemplary adherence to CFCS, continuing KCFI’s streak of recognition from 2024.
KCFI also launched 10 new episodes of its agriculture video lesson series, AgriKids, produced in partnership with the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) on October 25. Targeted for Grades 6 to 8, the series aims to enhance agricultural literacy and inspire youth engagement in the sector. AgriKids has received the prestigious Anak TV Seal for three consecutive years from 2023 to 2025.
Looking ahead, KCFI will launch a new episode of its travel show Wow on November 29 in Dumaguete. Produced with First Gen-Energy Development Corporation (EDC), Wow: Negros (Laya) highlights the critically endangered Visayan Hornbill, locally known as tariktik, and connects cultural knowledge with environmental conservation.
Helping in the creation of these shows is the Knowledge Channel Volunteer and Internship Program (KCVIP). On October 10, KCFI welcomed 82 new interns and volunteers, celebrating them as “Champions for Children, Builders of Tomorrow.” Now in its eighth year, KCVIP provides young, passionate Filipinos with the opportunity to produce high-quality, Filipino-centric educational content. The program nurtures future advocates and nation-builders while allowing participants to gain valuable experience and plant “seeds of knowledge” for generations of learners.
In the spirit of National Children’s Month, KCFI, together with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (Phil) Inc. (FICCI), will hold the Knowledge Channel Early Childhood Care and Education (KCare) training program in Taytay, Rizal from November 26 to 28. This three-day program will equip Child Development Workers, teachers, parents, health workers, and other caregivers of 3 to 4-year-olds with practical skills in nutrition, protection, children’s rights, and responsive caregiving, guided by the Nurturing Care Framework and the ECCD Council’s National Early Learning Framework (NELF).
