KCFI’s Awards

The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) scored a twin victory with MathDali Grade 1 winning Best Children’s Program and Wow taking home Best Arts and Culture Program at the 28th KBP Golden Dove Awards. The award recognizes MathDali Grade 1's innovative approach to teaching basic numeracy skills. This engaging math show makes learning fun and accessible. First launched with five pilot episodes in 2023, it now boasts of 20 episodes designed to build a strong foundation in grade 1 math concepts and foster a mathematical mindset among learners through understanding and familiarization. It was developed in partnership with BDO Foundation and Huawei Philippines. Wow, on the other hand, provides a vibrant depiction of the Philippines’ cultural heritage, including its cuisine, customs, primary industries, natural resources, and conservation initiatives. It also aims to promote ecotourism in the country. The recent season of Wow was produced in partnership with Forest Foundation Philippines.

KCFI’s Basa Bilang Project and the Lobo Integrated Area Development (IAD) Program each received finalist trophies at the 2025 League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) CSR Guild Awards, with Basa Bilang recognized in the Outstanding CSR Project in Arts and Culture category, and the Lobo IAD Program in the Outstanding CSR Collaboration Project category. KCFI’s Basa Bilang Project aims to empower Filipino primary school learners to become confident readers, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers during their foundational years. To achieve this, over a thousand video lessons in core subjects, anchored on the Department of Education’s Grade 1 to 3 textbooks, were created and distributed across Knowledge Channel’s on-air, online, and offline platforms.

Meanwhile, the IAD Program in Lobo, Batangas is a collaborative initiative among Lopez Group companies and foundations. As part of this, KCFI conducted its Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence-based Pedagogies (LEEP) Science training for 39 teachers and principals, equipping them with improved approaches to science education and providing them with Knowledge Channel Portable Media Libraries (KCPMLs) for classroom instruction.

The Oscar M. Lopez Center (OMLC), Energy Development Corporation (EDC), and ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. (AFI) also contributed to environmental conservation efforts and helped strengthen Lobo’s capacity for ecosystem monitoring. In addition, AFI supported livelihood and ecotourism initiatives through activity packaging and promotion. The IAD Program promotes community development through thematic clusters: Environment, Education, and Social Entrepreneurship. The initiative was spearheaded by the Lopez Group Foundation, Inc. (LGFI), which led the program and its activities throughout its implementation.

In June, the Department of Science and Technology - Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) also recognized KCFI for its contributions to STARBOOKS, a free digital library kiosk developed by DOST-STII in 2011. STARBOOKS offers thousands of science and technology resources, including Knowledge Channel’s disaster preparedness and financial literacy video lessons for schools and communities across the Philippines.
