PASAY CITY — The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) received multiple child-friendly content awards as the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) launched its new roster of funded educational content, including KCFI’s “Kinder Yes!”, during the council’s 28th Anniversary Kickoff on October 24, at Pasay City. The event, which gathered broadcast networks, media advocates, and government stakeholders, celebrated key achievements in child-friendly media. The celebration aimed to strengthen the NCCT's advocacy for a child-friendly and child-safe media environment, recognize outstanding media organizations and pioneers and champions of children’s television.
Honored for content excellence
KCFI was once again recognized for its dedication to quality programming. The Foundation received the Outstanding Commitment to Child-friendly Content Standards (CFCS) Award.
Furthermore, two of its flagship shows were honored for their "Exemplary Adherence to Child-friendly Content Standards (CFCS)":
MathDali, which redefines early Math education through fun adventures and real-life applications.
Wikaharian, a foundational series that promotes Filipino literacy and a love for reading among young learners.
This marks another consecutive year of recognition for KCFI, which also received top honors from NCCT in 2024 for its consistent adherence to child-friendly content standards.
Strengthened partnership
Another highlight of the event was the launch of NCCT’s new lineup of funded educational content this year, which includes “Kinder Yes!”, a video lesson series produced by KCFI through an NCCT grant.
KCFI Vice President Edric Calma expressed gratitude for the continuing partnership with the council. "It is with great honor that we launch today seven new episodes of Kinder Yes!, made possible by our partnership with the NCCT," Calma said. "Kinder Yes!” is one of the many video series under our Basa Bilang program... [it] focuses on early childhood and kindergarten competencies by promoting a young learner's intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development, as well as their communication skills, critical thinking, creativity, and values formation."
He explained that the episodes feature engaging songs, rhymes, and locally inspired animations to teach lessons on the Filipino alphabet, shapes, colors, community, Philippine currency, weather, and environmental care—all aligned with the Department of Education (DepEd) Kinder curriculum. “Maraming salamat sa NCCT sa partnership na ito,” Calma added, citing past collaborations such as Ready, Set, Read! and WOW. “These partnerships show that when we work together, we reach more and teach more.”
Earlier this year, through another NCCT grant, KCFI began producing five new episodes of WOW—its enduring Araling Panlipunan travel program—featuring Siquijor, Sagada, Marinduque, Zamboanga del Norte, and Nueva Vizcaya, and celebrating the country’s heritage and culture. With “Kinder Yes!” and “WOW” among NCCT’s newly funded programs and multiple awards recognizing its excellence, KCFI continues to work hand in hand with NCCT to champion child-friendly, values-driven, and engaging educational media for every Filipino learner.
The National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) is a government agency under DepEd that promotes and supports the creation of quality children's television programs. Established by Republic Act No. 8370, its mandate is to develop a comprehensive media plan for children, conduct research, monitor child-friendly programs, and advocate for media literacy. It ensures children have access to creative, informative, and educational content that develops their critical thinking and values.
