For broader information dissemination on Philippine weather forecast and awareness, Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) and Weather Philippines Foundation, Inc. remained as partners to provide multimedia materials for learners since 2018.
KCFI and WeatherPH sealed another partnership for the production of three different five-minute animated videos which aim to teach students disaster-awareness and resiliency that can be done in times of unexpected catastrophes.
Signing the Memorandum of Agreement were Ms. Rina Lopez-Bautista, Knowledge Channel Foundation President and Executive Director, Christian Gaite, Manager for Transmedia and for WeatherPH, Ms. Maribeth Marasigan, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Ms.Amy Melissa Chua, Communications and Engagement Manager.
The videos will fall under the Science and Health curriculum block and will benefit both students and teachers by promoting innovation for quality education.
Last year, KCFI and WeatherPH partnered in delivering numbers of weather education videos to students and teachers through KCH’s YouTube channel and other platforms.
With KCFI’s reach, WeatherPH tapped the foundation to broadcast #WeatherWiserKnba? and Weather Wizards, promoting public consciousness during calamities. These videos are carried in the portable media libraries and are distributed to Knowledge Channel-connected schools.
Founded in 2012 by the Aboitiz Foundation and UnionBank, WeatherPH is a multisectoral initiative that aims to provide Filipinos with a premier weather sensing and forecasting system and advocates to provide local governments and communities with free, accurate, and localized weather information for a timely response to severe weather conditions and has now expanded to include the optimization of weather knowledge for socio-economic growth and progress.
