Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) and Weather Philippines Foundation, Inc. (WeatherPH) have recently partnered in delivering a series of multimedia materials on weather education to teachers and learners. The memorandum of agreement (MOA) was held at the NAC tower in Bonifacio Global City, Makati City last June 18, 2018.
Signing the MOA were Rina Lopez Bautista, President and Executive Director of KCFI, Edric Calma, KCFI Director of Operations; Susan Valdez, President of WeatherPH, and Maribeth Marasigan, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of WeatherPH.
KCFI was tapped by WeatherPH to assist in disseminating information faster to a wider audience. This will be done by including WeatherPH’s videos of #WeatherWiser Knba? and Weather Wizards in the external hard drives that are turned over to its beneficiaries under the KCFI’s LEEP Program (Learning Effectively Through Enhanced and Evidence-based Pedagogies), and will be uploaded on KCFI’s online portals.
KCFI will also support WeatherPH in the #WeatherWiser campaign that promotes disaster resilience and awareness. “In this partnership with Knowledge Channel, we are hoping to get more leverage so that we’ll continue with our mission of making communities safer, sustainable, and empowered,” shares Marasigan. This partnership is also beneficial for both parties with their similar advocacies in education. “Knowledge Channel, is a partner which we consider as service partner because you don’t really donate equipment or money but you are a very important channel for information. So, we consider you as one of our important partners as well,”says Valdez. (Source: Aboitiz Eyes)
KCFI will also be receiving trainings from WeatherPH for familiarization of the weather terminologies. This will ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of KCFI’s team in teaching the teacher- and student- beneficiaries regarding weather information.
“With this collaboration with Weather Philippines, we will be able to bring to the teachers a better way of teaching and processing weather information. We are also looking forward to sharing this to our student beneficiaries, to make them realize that there is a career in this kind of industry,” expresses Lopez-Bautista. (Source: Aboitiz Eyes)
