500 Knowledge Channel PMLs turned over to DepEd NegOc

The provincial government of Negros Occidental, led by Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson, turned over 500 Knowledge Channel Portable Media Libraries (PMLs) to 33 school districts under the Department of Education (DepEd)–Division of Negros Occidental last February 18, 2021 at the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) in Bacolod City.

The said project was in response to the needs of the education sector as it shifts to distance learning during the pandemic. Lacson said that the provincial government has always been supportive of initiatives that supports DepEd and its learners.

“A year into the pandemic and months of alternative learning, the obligation to protect and promote the right of our learners to quality education at all levels, and to take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all has become more imperative,” said the governor.

“May this activity motivate our continuous and sustained efforts to think of ways on how to further achieve the kind of quality education our learners deserve, for even if Covid-19 physically closed our schools, learning must go on,” he added.

Present during the turnover were Board Member Agustin Ernesto Bascon, chairman of the SP Committee of Education, Executive Assistant to the Governor Charina Magallanes – Tan, DepEd – Negros Occ. Schools Division Superintendent Marsette Sabbaluca, School Governance and Operations Division Chief, Romeo Sison, Division PTA Federation President, Udrick Magbanua, Jr., NOHS Principal Mario Amaca, public schools district supervisors, and teachers.
