| Tulong Balik Eskwela: San Lorenzo Ruiz Elementary School, Pasig City |
| December 17, 2009 |
The eighth school visit of the Tulong Balik Esklwela program involved the distribution of the largest number of school bags and school supplies yet—approximately 2308 school packs in all. The school supplies were given to the students of San Lorenzo Ruiz Elementary School in Pasig City.
Staff and volunteers from Knowledge Channel Foundation and First Gen Corporation worked non-stop for two straight days in order to pack and organize the school bags to be distributed. Other partner companies also helped in gathering and sorting school supplies for the children. The group of volunteers arrived in San Lorenzo Ruiz Elementary School just before the school Christmas program began. The volunteers divided themselves into groups and carried sacks and boxes of school supplies to the different classrooms where the children were awaiting them. While giving out the school bags, both kids and volunteers listened to the Knowledge Channel theme song, “May K Ako” in order to further uplift their spirits and create a festive mood. Many of the students were still absent because some of them were still staying in the evacuation centers so the volunteer group made sure to set aside sufficient school packs to be given to the rest of the students.
